Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

Summary

2005-05-30: While JZA 8371, a DHC-8-100, was holding for departure at the intersection of Taxiway Uniform and Runway 34 at Calgary, the Controller noticed what appeared to be smoke from the right main landing gear. The Controller advised the crew and Emergency Services were called out. The aircraft did not depart and taxied back to the terminal. TSB reported that the flight crew were advised and ARFF was called to the aircraft. There was no fire in the brake assembly; however, the aircraft was towed back to the gate. Maintenance changed the number three brake and determined the smoke was result of hydraulic fluid dripping from the nacelle onto the brakes.
