Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG) (ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

2005-05-13: The crew of a HS 748, operating as FAB 5874, had filed a flight plan for an IFR departure from Mary's River (7119N 07922W, an uncontrolled aerodrome north of Hall Beach) to Pangnirtung. The Edmonton ACC Flight Data Processing Network system failed to properly process the received AFTN message. It wasn't until the company dispatcher phoned to confirm the departure point that ATOS realized the flight plan had been dropped from the system. The flight plan was processed after being discussed with the dispatcher.
2005-05-18: UPDATE ANS and Airspace advised the problem is a known FDPN characteristic that occasionally drops a flight plan. No operator interaction causes the problem. A new FDPN database version, that includes a fix for this problem, is scheduled for installation Friday night.
