Incident at WHITEHORSE/ ERIK NIELSEN INTL (CYXY) (ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

2005-05-12: C-GMPE, a Pilatus PC-12 was en route IFR from Whitehorse to Prince Rupert and the Edmonton ACC Controller did not recognize that the aircraft's routing for the flight would enter the Anchorage FIR. Consequently, flight data concerning the aircraft was not passed to the Anchorage Controller. The Edmonton Controller relieving the initial Controller detected the error and the flight data was co-ordinated with Anchorage Controller as the aircraft was about to cross the FIR boundary. There were no other aircraft involved, consequently there was no loss of separation.
2005-05-24: UPDATE ANS and Airspace reported that Nav Canada will conduct a Level 1 Operational Safety Investigation concerning this incident.
