Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

Summary

2005-05-13: UPDQATE Aerodrome Safety reported that the crew of West Jet 280 a 200 series B737 reported that the strike occurred at the intersection of 10/16 while the aircraft was on the roll out after landing. The mature adult Red Tail Hawk struck the aircrafts nose then defected down and impacted the left main gear, then flew up and contacted the aircrafts tail plane, and then came to rest on runway 16. There was no damage to the aircraft however the same can not be said for the Hawk. This event did not cause any interruption of air traffic at Calgary Intl. Airport. The Airport Authorities bird and wildlife program have had a hawk trapping program in place since the beginning of May. Last year airport personnel recovered and relocated 24 birds so far this year their yield has been four
2005-05-12: WJA 280, a B737-700, landed on Runway 10 at Calgary and the crew reported a bird strike at the intersection of Runways 28 and 10. A hawk was later found on the runway. There was no report of damage to the jet.
