Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG)
2005-05-03: WJA 107, a B737-200, departed Edmonton for Vancouver and the crew later advised of a loss of pressurization while climbing through FL 210. They requested descent and to return to YEG. The aircraft landed at 0111Z. TSB will contact the company.
2005-05-05: UPDATE MAINTENANCE AND MANUFACTURING REPORTED THAT ON DEPARTURE FROM YEG, C-GWJG (tail # 736) WAS CLIMBING THROUGH FL 210 WHEN THE CREW NOTICED THE CABIN DIFFERENTIAL WAS AT MAXIMUM AND THE CABIN RATE OF CLIMB WAS EXCEEDING 3,000 FPM (UP). THEY IMMEDIATELY INITIATED A RAPID DESCENT AND STABILIZED THE CABIN ALTITUDE AT AN A/C ALTITUDE OF 17,000 FT. THE A/C RETURNED TO YEG AND PERFORMED A NORMAL LANDING. YEG MAINTENANCE CARRIED OUT THE REPLACEMENT OF THE PRESSURE CONTROLLER.
2005-05-11: UPDATE TSB reported that the WestJet Boeing 737-200 (C-GWJG), operating as WJA 107, was climbing through FL 210 when the crew noticed that the cabin rate of climb exceeded 3000 fpm up. An emergency descent was initiated and the emergency descent checklist completed. The cabin pressure stabilized at 17,000 feet during the descent and WJA 107 returned to the Edmonton International airport. The pressurization controller was replaced and the aircraft was returned to service.
