Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG)

Summary

2005-05-02: A Westjet Boeing 737-200, C-GUWJ, flight WJA 45, was en route from Vancouver (CYVR) to Edmonton (CYEG). At FL 270, the B hydraulic system failed and the crew completed the non-normal checklist. The aircraft landed on Runway 30 at CYEG with ARFF standing by. The crew had not declared an emergency. Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that the hydraulic system B low quantity warning came on, then the quantity gauge went to zero. Both system B low pressure lights came on. The overheat lights did not illuminate prior to shut-off. The system B aileron PCU was found to be leaking. The PCU was changed.
