Incident at RED DEER REGIONAL AB (CYQF)
2005-05-03: UPDATE TSB reported that the Air Spray (1967) Ltd. Lockheed Electra L188C, C-GZCF, was operating on a local training flight in the Red Deer area as ASB 90. During a reduction in power for an approach to stall exercise, the propeller on the #3 engine (Allison 501-D13) began to overspeed. The appropriate checklist was actioned and the #3 engine was feathered. The aircraft returned to Red Deer and an emergency was declared with ATC. An uneventful three engine approach and landing followed. Maintenance found the #3 rotary actuator driven 180° past it's limits and have sent the component in for a strip report. An SDR has been filed with Transport Canada.
2005-04-19: The crew of the Lockheed 188 Electra, operating as ASB 90 declared an emergency 17 NM west of Red Deer with an engine failure. ERS was called and the a/c landed without incident at 1826Z. TSB will contact the operator.
