Incident at LETHBRIDGE AB (CYQL)

Summary

2005-04-19: The pilot of C-GWOP, a privately owned Cessna 172, was on a VFR flight from Cut Bank, MT to Lethbridge (YQL). The pilot advised Lethbridge FSS at 1527Z that he was in cloud at 5,000 feet ASL. FSS passed the YQL METAR (15 SM 13BKN 44BKN 70BKN). Edmonton ACC and RCC were advised. The pilot descended and reported clear of cloud at 4,600 feet ASL. A short time later the pilot advised that he was picking up ice and was going to conduct a forced landing. Shortly after, the pilot indicated that he would continue to YQL. C-GWOP landed without incident at 1544Z.
