Incident at INUVIK / MIKE ZUBKO NT (CYEV)

Summary

2005-04-13: KBA 117, a DC-3, had departed Inuvik at 1619Z and at 1625 the crew reported 20 miles notheast with a situation requiring return to Inuvik and priority landing. The nature of the problem is not known.
2005-04-18: UPDATE TSB reported that the Kenn Borek Air Ltd. Douglas R4D-8 (DC-3) was conducting a cargo flight from Inuvik, NT to Holman, NT as flight KBA 117. During the initial climb on departure, the right hand engine (Curtiss Wright, R-1820-80) backfired and began running rough. The flight crew requested priority handling for the return to Inuvik. Maintenance replaced 3 spark plugs on the right hand engine and the aircraft was returned to service.
