Incident at IQALUIT NU (CYFB) (Incursion - runway - vehicle)


2005-03-29: BW 126, a snow blower, entered Runway 17/35 at Iqaluit without authorization. There was no aviation traffic at the time of the incident.
2005-04-08: UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that there were a number of vehicles which were engaged in snow removal operations when this event occurred. The operator of Blower 126 assumed that since other vehicles had authorization to be on the runway that he in his capacity was cleared as well. The ADCO group who are under contract with the Nunavut Government Air Operations reviewed the AVOP requirements with the operator, and then held a meeting with all air side vehicle operators at the airport in Iqaluit to discuss this event and review procedures. This occurrence did not cause any interruptions of air traffic at Iqaluit
