At 0800Z, the crew of KBA 201 requested a clearance and then decided to cancel their flight plan due to blizzard conditions and fear of getting stuck again.
2005-03-17: UPDATE The crew of KBA201 a Kenn BorekAir 200 series Beechcraft had been dispatched to Pond Inlet on a Medevac flight. Although faced with a Blizzard the crew in the true spirit of the North attempted to get out of Iqaluit before conditions got worse than they already were. One hour and ten minutes later after twice getting stuck in snow on the apron and taxiway the crew cancelled and managed to taxi their aircraft back to the companies hanger. The Company received a call the next day from the nursing station at Pond Inlet canceling the Medevac. Maintenance personnel for the airport at Iqaluit continued with their snow removal however after assisting the crew of KBA201 to get their aircraft out of the snow they suspended operations till the weather improved.
