Incident at PIKWITONEI MB (CZMN) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)

2005-03-15: UPDATE The airport maintainer at Pikwitonei airport had been removing snow from the graded area of the runway . Heavy wet snow which was the result of mild temperatures and freezing rain caused a front end loader to bog down and get stuck close the runway and some 50-60 feet from the perimeter fence. Due to a staff shortage the airport maintainer had no choice but to close the runway while he went for help. It was reported that the freezing rain was so heavy that the runway surface was like glass. The airport was reopened the next day after the front end loader was recovered and the ice was removed from runway and taxiway surfaces. This event did not cause any reported interruptions of air traffic at the Pikwitonei Airport.
2005-02-03: The runway at Pikwitonei airport was closed from 2335Z on Feb. 2 to 0122Z next day due to a loader being stuck adjacent to the runway.
