Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

Summary

2005-03-14: UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that the aircraft a JETSGO MD 83 was on final approach for runway 34 at Calgary when the crew reported encountering a flock of ducks and that they may have had a bird strike. The aircraft was landed without further incident, a post landing inspection reveled blood smears on the right front windscreen. Personnel from the Bird and Wildlife branch of the Calgary Authority confirmed the bird strike and were able to establish through conversation with the crew the approximate location of the event. The occurrence took place during the hours of darkness at 18:25 local (MTS) while the aircraft was 1.5 miles back about 800feet agl. over the McCall lake Golf course. The remains of the bird were not located so the type has not been verified. This event did not cause any interruption to air traffic nor was there any aircraft damage.
2005-02-01: The crew of JGO 191, an MD-83 arriving at Calgary, reported a bird strike. No remains were found.
