Incident at WHITECOURT AB (CYZU) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown, Aerodrome - other)


2005-01-24: TK 99, an airport snow plow, entered the runway at Whitecourt airport and then became disabled at 0352Z. Assistance to remove the vehicle was required, making the runway unavailable for use for 11 hours until the vehicle was removed the next morning at 1427Z.
2005-02-23: UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that the Snowplow operator advised Air Radio that his vehicle had suffered a flat tire. Airport maintenance personnel were also notified. Fifteen minutes later the snow plow was towed off the runway. The left front tire was removed replaced and the plow was back in operation in less than an hour. The runway was not closed overnight nor was the vehicle on the runway for 11 hours. There was no reported air traffic interruption as a result of this occurrence.
