Incident at BOPAP intersection 57N / 102W (ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

2005-01-18: UPDATE ANS and Airspace reported that NAV CANADA will do a Level 1 OSI.
2005-01-12: UAL 801, a B777, was westbound on NCA 22 at FL 340, en route New York to Narita. While conducting an NSIT conflict probe on another aircraft, the Controller inadvertently changed the Flight Level on UAL 801 from FL 340 to FL 320 while the flight was near BOPAP intersection over eastern Saskatchewan. An electronic estimate was subsequently passed to the next Sector with an incorrect altitude of FL 320. The error was discovered and corrected by the next Sector Controller when the flight progressed by SETMA intersection over the Yukon Territory at 2240Z. Although no other traffic was affected, safety was not assured.
2005-01-14: UPDATE TSB reported that a United Airlines Boeing 777-200, Flight UAL 801, was westbound on NCA22 at FL 340. While conducting an NSIT conflict probe on another aircraft, the Edmonton Centre Controller inadvertently changed the flight level on UAL 801 from FL 340 to FL 320. An electronic estimate was subsequently passed to the next sector with an incorrect altitude of FL 320. The error was discovered and corrected by the next Sector Controller when the flight progressed by SETMA at 2240Z. Although no other traffic was affected, safety was not assured.
