Incident at 3 Miles SW of Makkovik NL

Summary

2005-12-29: Universal Helicopters Bell 2O6 enroute from Rigolet (CCZ2) to Postville (CCD4) landed short of destination due to weather. The aircraft landed 3 miles southwest of Makkovik without incident and crew advised that the occupants would remain at this location overnight. Nil TSB.
2006-01-09: UPDATE Commercial and Business Aviation: This incident was a precautionary landing carried out due to deterioration in the local weather conditions and approaching darkness. Overnight, the aircraft survival kits and the onboard satellite telephone were put to use. All on board were experienced helicopter travelers and were dressed appropriately for the Labrador conditions. The flight was able to resume the following morning. A Company Safety Event report was completed and the company supports the action taken.
