Incident at Gander Oceanic (Conflict - loss of separation, ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

2005-11-28: BAW228, Boeing 767-300 enroute from Baltimore (KBWI) to London (EGLL) and SIA025, Boeing 747-400, enroute from New York (KJFK) to Frankfurt (EDDF) routing TOPPS direct REDBY CARPE track V. While still in radar contact approximately 14 - 18 NM southwest of REDBY, BAW228 was climbed to infringe on the altitude of SIA025 with less than required radar longitudinal separation. BAW228 was descended to original flight level to re-establish separation. TSB Case Closed.
2005-11-29: TSB Update: A05A0151: BAW228, a Boeing 767-300 aircraft, and SIA025, a Boeing 747-400 aircraft, were both eastbound with a routing of TOPPS, direct REDBY, CARPE track Victor. While still in radar contact approximately 14 - 18 NM southwest of REDBY, BAW228 was climbed to infringe on the altitude of SIA025 with less than required radar longitudinal separation (3.5 miles where 5 miles was required). BAW228 was descended to original flight level to re-establish separation.
