2005-10-21: TSB Update: The PA31-350 aircraft, C-GIIZ, operating as CME502, was on a courier run with stops in Fredericton, Saint John, and Halifax. After arriving in Saint John and parking on the ramp, with the right engine running, the first officer exited the aircraft and up loaded cargo from a courier van that had backed up to the aircraft door. The captain started the left engine and released the brakes before the courier van had cleared the area, and the left horizontal stabilizer struck the rear of the van. Maintenance inspected the aircraft and determined that the damage was minor. They then carried out temporary repairs and released the aircraft for a flight to the operator's maintenance base in Moncton where a permanent repair is to be carried out.
