2005-10-26: TSB Update: A05A0141: The Beech 200 aircraft, C-GMRS, operating as SPR01, had just taken off from Trenton, NS at 1301 ADT, to carry out a fisheries patrol. However, when the gear was selected up, it only retracted part way and the circuit breaker for the electric gear motor popped. The crew observed via the FLIR that the inboard tire on the right gear appeared to be jammed against the inboard gear door. The gear was manually extended and obtained a down and locked indication. At 1340 ADT, the crew decided to proceed to Halifax, NS and declared an emergency. The aircraft held at Halifax for 30-40 minutes burning fuel and landed uneventfully at 1441 ADT. An inspection of all four main gear doors and tires revealed no indication of contact between doors and tires. However, a swivel link on the left inboard gear door was found to be broken. Gear swings were carried out which revealed that the left main gear actuator exhibited abnormal noise and appeared slower than normal. A bench inspection revealed that the actuator had a rough area of travel and was very stiff to extend and retract when rotated. The actuator was replaced and after numerous gears swings the aircraft was returned to service
2005-10-20: SPR01, Beech 200, enroute from Trenton (CYTN) to Halifax (CYHZ), at 1601Z advised that they had a ?gear indication? and were returning to Summerside (CYSU); no assistance required. At approximately 1640Z, pilot decided to proceed to CYHZ and declared an emergency. RCC advised. Aircraft held at CYHZ for 30 - 40 minutes to reduce fuel load and carried out an approach to Runway 32. Landed safely at 1741Z. TSB Case Closed.
2005-10-24: Maintenance & Manufacturing Update: Aircraft C-GMRS experienced a gear in transit indication when the gear was selected up on departure from Trenton, NS, with the landing gear stopped in the midway position in the cycle. The Alternate Extension procedure was carried out to extend the gear to the down and lock position, and the aircraft continued on its route to YHZ with the gear down. Maintenance inspection of the aircraft revealed a broken swivel link fitting at the left inboard gear door. The cause of the broken fitting and resulting gear snag is being investigated as the aircraft is currently on jacks with additional troubleshooting and inspection in progress. Additional information and a follow-up report will be forwarded once the defect has been rectified.
