Incident at T. C . Highway approx 3 kilometers west of Port aux Basques

Summary

2005-10-07: C-FCIC, Cessna 182P enroute from St. John?s (CYYT) to Halifax (CYHZ) conducted an emergency landing on the highway due to weather. There were no vehicles on the highway at the time of the landing. The aircraft was escorted by the RCMP to Port aux Basques. TSB Case Closed.
2005-10-11: TSB Update: A Cessna 182, C-FCIC, was on a VFR pleasure flight from St. John's NL to Halifax, NS. The flight progressed normally until approaching the shoreline near Sydney, NS, where the pilot encountered a dense fog bank. The pilot decided to divert to Stephenville, NL. The cloud base lowered as the flight progressed. After crossing the shoreline near Port aux Basque the pilot conducted an uneventful precautionary landing on the Trans Canada Highway (TCH) approximately 1 NM outside the town of Port aux Basque. RCMP officers met with the pilot and escorted the aircraft to the RCMP station house parking lot via the TCH.
