Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

Summary

2005-09-09: LAL8301 DH8A departing St. John?s (CYYT) for Deer Lake (CYDF) at 10:05Z, advised that it had a minor hydraulic problem with #1 engine and requested clearance to return CYYT approximately 10nm north of the airport. No emergency declared and no assistance required. Aircraft landed safely at 1014Z. TSB Evaluating
2005-09-16: Maintenance and Manufacturing Update: On climb out of YYT, aircraft lost number 1 engine driven hydraulic pump, aircraft returned to gate, the hydraulic pump and filter were changed. The pump shaft had sheared. This is the first engine driven hydraulic pump failure experienced by this company. An SDR is being submitted.
