Incident at Gander Oceanic (Conflict - potential)


2005-09-14: TSB Update: A05A0115: The westbound Gestair Falcon 2000, registration EC-HYI, operating as GES311, was cleared to descend to St. John's and level at 6000 feet. An eastbound Cougar Helicopters Sikorsky S-61 was climbing to 5000 feet. After traffic was passed to both aircraft, GES311 acknowledged the opposite traffic and continued to descend to 5000 feet. The controller observed GES311 descending and issued further instructions to maintain separation between both aircraft. GES311 was cleared to continue to 5000 feet.
2005-09-06: GES311 F2 Westbound enroute Madrid (LETO) to St. John?s (CYYT) descending into CYYT cleared to 6,000 feet. CHI91 S61 enroute Eastbound St. John?s (CYYT) to the Sea Rose Oil Rig climbing to 5,000 feet. After traffic was passed, GES311 acknowledged traffic at 5.000 feet then descended to that altitude. Controller continued aircraft descending to altitude separated from CHI91. TSB Case Closed
