Incident at 18 Miles west of Fredericton (ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

2005-07-29: Continental Airlines COA96 enroute from New York to London Heathrow was overtaken by British Airways BAW112 who was enroute fron Newerk to Berlin at FL350. Controller initated 10 degree turns for separation. Separation reduced to 4.8 miles before it began increasing. Controller relieved. NOC and TSB advised. TSB Evaluating .
2005-08-04: TSB Update: A05A0096: The Continental Airlines Boeing 757-200, operating as COA96, was being overtaken by A British Airways Boeing 747-400, operating as BAW112, at FL350. The Moncton ACC controller recognized the situation and instructed each aircraft to turn 10 degrees away from each other. Separation had reduced to 4.8 NM before the aircraft began to diverge, which resulted in the activation of the conflict alert system on the controller board. NAVCANADA is conducting an investigation.
