Incident at Gander Oceanic (ATM - inaccurate aeronautical information)

2005-07-21: UAL958 Boeing 777-200 enroute from Chicago (KORD) to London (EGLL) did not read back flight level (37,000) presented to clearance delivery. Aircraft read back 36,000 ft. instead. Clearance delivery failed to recognize incorrect information. Aircraft descended from 37,000 to the flight level (36,000 ft) that it understood was the oceanic crossing level, after entering oceanic airspace. Aircraft never inquired of Gander ATC why it was not descended and undertook to descend on its own, without requested clearance. TSB Evaluating
