Incident at J.A. DOUGLAS MCCURDY SYDNEY AIRPORT (Conflict - potential, Conflict - loss of separation, Communication error)

Summary

2005-07-04: The Moncton ACC controller issued a departure clearance to the Sydney FSS for GGN7493 Beech 1900C enroute from Sydney (CYQY) to Halifax (CYHZ) which included a restriction to climb runway heading to 6,000 before proceeding on course. The clearance was subsequently relayed to GGN7493 but the read back did not clearly indicate that the pilot understood the runway heading restriction. GGN7493 turned shortly after take-off and, while no loss of separation occurred, separation was not assured. TSB Case Closed.
