Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2005-07-07: Maintenance and Manufacturing update: This aircraft struck a bird in the #1 engine in YQM. A bird strike inspection was carried out and damage was found in the # 1 engine. 2 fan blades were found to be shingled and debris was in the engine core. The fan blades were un-shingled, inspected and the aircraft was returned to service using the AMM. The AMM relief was for 50 cycle operation and then replacement of the affected fan blades. A borescope was also required within 10 hours of operation after the bird strike. This was accomplished on July 3rd with no findings. The fan blades are to be replaced on Thursday of this week.
