Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

Summary

2005-06-20: CME401 PA31 enroute from Halifax(CYHZ)to Moncton (CYQM) departed rwy24 at 0852Z for CYQM, advised had to return due indicator problems. AFF called to standby positions. CME401 landed safely on rwy15 at 0901Z. TSB Closed
2005-06-22: Problem was a surging LH engine. Troubleshooting indicated a problem with the RH magneto. Points and capacator replaced & returned to service.
2005-08-02: TSB Update: A05A0066: The Prince Edward Air Piper Navajo, registration C-GIIZ operating as CME402, had departed Rwy 24 at Halifax. During the climb the crew requested to return to land due to indication problems. Clearance was provided and AFF were called to standby positions. The aircraft landed safely at 06:01 ADT on RWY 16. A discussion with the crew maintenance determined that the right engine (#2) had surged as a result of a left magneto capacitor failure.
