Incident at Gander Domestic FIR

2005-05-03: AFR6422 B747-200, enroute Paris (LFPG) to New-York (KJFK) westbound at 32,000 feet on routing (in part) VIXUN - TUSKY, observed climbing to 33,500 feet without climb clearance at 0036Z. When queried by controller the pilot advised that he had received a clearance to climb to 34,000 feet and had read back the clearance. Review of audio data confirmed no such clearance had been issued to or read back by AFR6422. However, AFR6422 may have acted on a climb clearance issued to KLM622 at 0036Z to climb to 34,000 feet.
