Incident at SAINT JOHN NB (CYSJ) (ATS operating irregularity)


2005-03-08: On a flight from Montreal to Saint John during decent the controller allowed the aircraft to penetrate a 3500 foot minimun radar vectoring area at an altitude of 2400 feet. The aircraft penetrated the area by approximtely 0.75 mile and travelled for approximately 3.5 miles before returning to the appropriate airspace. TSB Evaluating
2005-03-11: TSB Update A05A0032: Jazz 8792, a Dash 8 at 2400 feet, was on radar vectors after a missed approach at CYSJ when it penetrated a 3500 foot minimum radar vectoring area. The controller passed a corrective turn to that aircraft; however the aircraft penterated the 3500 foot area by approximately 3/4 of a mile on a 3.5 mile arc before returning to the appropriate airspace. Nav Canada reports that the radar controller became involved with passing weather to another aircraft. Nav Canada will be conducting a Level 1 OSI. TSB Case Closed
