Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2005-03-02: JZA7662 DHC8-100 enroute Montréal (CYUL) to Fredericton (CYFC) broke off approach due to severe icing and climbed from 1,000 feet to 9,000 feet without clearance. Aircraft later climbed to 16,000 feet and diverted to Québec (CYQB). Pilot reported severe clear icing from 7,000 to 10,000 feet. No other traffic. No loss of separation. Nil TSB
