Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2005-02-25: COM102 CRJ2 enroute Boston (KBOS) to Fredericton (CYFC) did a missed approach in Fredericton at 0355Z due to an unsafe flap indication. After orbiting YFC, pilot opted to return to Boston. At 0411Z, just as the aircraft was about to cross the QM/BOS FIR boundary the pilot declared an emergency and this information was communicated to BOS ARTCC. At 0420Z Boston advised that the aircraft was returning to CYFC. Aircraft re-established contact with QM ACC and advised that they still had an emergency due to the flap problem but were proceeding to FC. Aircraft landed without incident at 0441Z. RCC/TSB/CACO advised. TSB Case Closed
2005-03-01: TSB Update #A05A0026: At 2355 AST, Comair 5102, a CL-600-2B19 (CRJ), IFR from Boston to Fredericton, conducted a missed approach due to a zero flap indication on the engine indicating and crew alerting system (EICAS). The crew subsequently declared an emergency, and landed zero flaps without incident at 0041 AST. The company will comply with US AD 98201 before the aircraft is returned to service.
