Incident at SAINT JOHN NB (CYSJ) (Aerodrome - other)

Summary

2005-01-20: TSK320 C130 arriving in Saint John (CYSJ) from Greenwood (CYZX), dropped 3 SAR techs near runway 05 (back beyond 200 feet). One of the techs proceeded to the edge of the runway and was walking there while an aircraft was on approach and landing runway 05. JZA8788 enroute Montréal (CYUL) to CYSJ was advised of the pedestrian and a missed approach was suggested, but the pilot elected to land with the pedestrian on the edge of the runway, and landed safely. FSS WAS unable to determine whether SAR tech was actually on the manoeuvring area, due to distance and angle from the FSS cab.
