Accident at MAYO YT (CYMA)


2003-09-15: RCC advised that C-GHRB, a Cessna 185 on floats had crashed in the vicinty of Mayo, YT. A helicopter had been dispatched to pick up the pilot. No injuries were reported, however the a/c apparently came to rest in trees and there is substantial damage. TSB will be contacting the operator.
2003-09-23: UPDATE TSB reported that the Yukon Wings Ltd. float-equipped Cessna A185E, C-GHRB, was at about 1,000 feet AGL on descent for a landing on Half Way Lake, YT, when the engine suddenly quit. After unsuccessfully attempting to restart the engine, the pilot force landed on a section of the Mayo river. The aircraft had slowed to about 30 mph when the it overran the riverbank, causing substantial damage. The pilot was not injured. The cause of the engine stoppage is not known.
