Incident at WINNIPEG / ST. ANDREWS MB (CYAV)

Summary

2003-11-04: UPDATE General Aviation reported that ATC requested the pilot to cross Runway 18 and hold short of Runway 13. The instructor was explaining the lesson to the student and taxied past hold short line on Runway 13 by a plane¿s length. Two a/c on final were pulled up. The instructor¿s attention was diverted by the student. The instructor realized his error immediately. He called the Tower when back down and a report was filled out by the Tower personnel. The Flying Club CFI de-briefed the instructor on proper procedures immediately after the incident.
2003-09-08: C-FGDE, a Cessna 152 with an instructor and student on board, was holding short of Runway 18 at St. Andrews airport and requested departure from Runway 13. The pilot was instructed to cross Runway 18 and hold short of Runway 13. The clearance was read back correctly, but the aircraft proceeded across the hold line for Runway 13. Two aircraft on final to Runway 13 were pulled up. The instructor was made aware of the error and after landing, reported it to his CFI, who counselled him with respect to correct ATC compliance procedures.
