Incident at EDMONTON / COOKING LAKE AB (Water) (CEE7)

2003-08-28: While practising crosswind landings and departures on Runway 10 at Cooking Lake airport, the right toe brake on C-FMVY, a vintage Bellanca, failed after landing, causing the aircraft to leave the runway and strike the VASIS lights. There was minimal damage to the aircraft and no injuries to the two people on board. TSB reported that an old weld on the toe brake where it attaches to the shaft, failed. The a/c exited the runway at slow speed, with the power off and the propeller dinged the VASIS light.
