Incident at HAY RIVER / MERLYN CARTER AIRPORT NT (CYHY)

Summary

2003-08-19: The crew of BFL 169, a DC-3, did not establish contact with the Hay River CARS operator during the taxi for departure and actual departure. The only call CARS got was after the flight was airborne the pilot called clear of the zone. The CARS operator knew about the aircraft because he heard the pilot talking to the pilot of inbound FAB 120 co-ordinating the use of the active runway.
