Incident at 20 NM W of Falcon Lake

Summary

2003-07-28: When 20 miles west of Falcon Lake, the pilot of C-FZTX, a Searey amateur-built a/c, relayed through another aircraft to Kenora FSS that they had engine problems and would make a precautionarylanding on the water at Falcon Lake. The aircraft landed safely on Falcon Lake at 13:26Z.
2003-08-11: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that an area of exhaust tubing (1 X 2.5) separated and went into the propeller. Due to the noise, the owner/pilot decided to land on the lake. Damage was minimal (cosmetically to propeller and fuselage). A complete new stainless steel exhaust system was installed.
