Incident at WHITEHORSE/ ERIK NIELSEN INTL (CYXY)
2003-07-22: The crew of ANT 700, a HS 748, advised Whitehorse Tower that they were having hydraulic pressure problems in his nose gear and might not be able to steer after landing. Emergency equipment was called out and after the aircraft landed safely it was towed to the hangar. No impact on other traffic.
2003-07-23: Maintenance and Manufacturing advised that the crew's intent was to overfly Whitehorse, Yukon on its way from Merritt, British Columbia to Dawson City, Yukon. Enroute, the aircraft hydraulic pressure lights came on and the pressure was observed to drop and then come back up. However, the pressure did not completely return to normal and it was decided to land the aircraft in Whitehorse. Hydraulic systems were still working when the aircraft landed but it was decided to tow the aircraft to the hangar. An inspection revealed that hydraulic fluid was lost from a line that had worked loose at a bulkhead fitting that in turn connected to the left hand hydraulic filter. The aircraft had not recently been through a maintenance check.
