Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC) (TCAS alert)

Summary

2003-07-18: WJA 664, a B737-700, departed Calgary (YYC) for Toronto climbing through 7,000 feet ASL. C-GRCI, a PA-28, departed YYC for Medicine Hat and passed through 8,000 feet ASL. The crew of WJA 664 was advised of the VFR traffic passing off their left side. After 3- 4 minutes, WJA 664 advised they had a TCAS RA and increased their rate of climb. Traffic had previously been passed to both aircraft.
2003-07-25: TSB advised that a Westjet Boeing 737-700, FWAO, operating as WJA664 had departed Calgary International (CYYC)and was climbing eastbound for Toronto (CYYZ). A Bar XH Air Inc. Piper PA28 C-GRCI was descending inbound to Calgary on a private VFR flight from Wainwright, AB (CYWV). ATC passed respective traffic to both aircraft. The two aircraft passed with 1.5 nm lateral separation at the same time altitude where the minimum separation standards were 1 nm lateral or 500 feet vertical. Although no loss of separation occurred, the crew of WJA664 responded to a TCAS RA for an increased rate of climb.
