Incident at WHITEHORSE/ ERIK NIELSEN INTL (CYXY)

Summary

2003-07-18: At 2120 UTC, Whitehorse Tower observed the remains of a bird on the edge of Runway 13R. Firehall was advised and removed the debris. No aircraft reported a bird strike, however it appeared that the strike might have occurred with the departure of CFG 066, a German B767. The flight crew was advised of the debris on the runway through Fairbanks Tower. Aerodrome Safety reported that there was no report of a strike from the aircraft crew. The aircraft continued on to ANC without incident. Whitehorse has had an influx of seagulls at the airport this year. The maintenance crews are hard at work trying to control the gulls.
