Incident at WHITEHORSE/ ERIK NIELSEN INTL (CYXY)

Summary

2003-07-18: UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that a seagull was hit during the takeoff roll of Air North's B737. The crew elected to carry on with the flight to YVR. They used the same airplane for an afternoon flight to Calgary and there was no damage to the a/c. Whitehorse airport has had an influx of seagulls this year. The maintenance crews are hard at work trying to control the gulls.
2003-07-17: ANT 507, a B737-200, departed from Runway 13R at Whitehorse and struck a bird abeam Runway 19. The flight continued on its clearance to destination and the firehall was advised. One deceased seagull was removed from the runway. No operational impact.
