Incident at RANKIN INLET NU (CYRT)

Summary

2003-07-15: The pilot of C-GTNM, a Hughes 369 helicopter, called Rankin Inlet FSS for an airport advisory at 1450Z. Two attempts to contact FSS were made prior to departure. FSS responded, however the aircraft appeared to be unable to receive. The pilot then made a traffic advisory broadcast and departed at 1451Z. At 1457Z, the pilot advised FSS that he had an intermittent radio.
2003-09-10: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that the defect was not with the A/C radio systems, but was traced to an intermittent connection in the pilot's helmet, which has now been rectified.
