Summary

2003-07-10: At 0108Z, the pilot of an aircraft reported a hole in the surface of Runway 31 after landing. Airport maintenace was advised and after inspecting the runway, concluded that repairs had to be effected immediately. Runway 13/31 was closed by the Airport Duty Manager and the information distributed by NOTAM. Runway 25 was made available by Airport Management for landing of propeller aircraft, during the closure of Runway 31 and utilized by two aircraft. Three Winnipeg departures were delayed between 10 and 25 minutes and several inbound flights were either delayed on departure or slowed to accommodate the closure. Repairs were accomplished and the runway re-opened an hour later at 0205z.
