Incident at ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE AB (CYRM)

Summary

2003-07-10: C-FYJQ, a vintage Stinson 108 with 2 people on board, departed Rocky Mountain House for Edson and shortly after, experienced an engine failure. The pilot conducted a successful forced landing on a logging road about 40 NM northwest of the airport. There was no reported damage to the aircraft. TSB reported that while in cruise, the engine began nto run rough and eventually lost power. The engine suffered what appears to be a catastrophic failure, with a cracked engine block. The owner has made arrangements for an AMO to retrieve the a/c and truck it to an airport for repair. An SDR will be filed with Transport Canada.
