Incident at LETHBRIDGE AB (CYQL) (Aerodrome property - death/injury)


2003-07-10: UPDATE TSB reported that the pilot of Boeing Stearman Cadet, registration C-FUCC, was pulling the propeller through to clear the oil in the cylinders in preparation for engine start. During this exercise, the pilot was struck on the back of one of his legs by the propeller. The pilot was taken to the hospital to treat the minor injury.
2003-07-08: C-FUCC, a Boeing Stearman W.W. II vintage aircraft was parked at Lethbridge and the pilot was pulling the propeller through to clear the engine oil. The propeller momentarily caught and struck the pilot in the back of the leg. He sustained cuts to the leg and there were no apparent broken bones. After receiving first aid at the airport, he was taken to hospital for stitches. TSB will be speaking to the pilot.
