Incident at YELLOWKNIFE NT (CYZF)

Summary

2003-07-04: AAL 726, a B757, was enroute IFR from Chicago to Anchorage when the crew indicated to Edmonton ACC that the aircraft was experiencing left engine problems and requested to divert to to Yellowknife. No priority service was requested and AAL 726 landed at Yellowknife without further incident at 0142Z. TSB will contact the company.
2003-07-09: UPDATE TSB reported that the American Airlines Boeing 757-223 (N650AA) operating as AAL 726 was 2 hours into a flight from Chicago (KORD) to Anchorage (PANC) at FL 360 when the crew noticed that the aircraft had difficulty holding airspeed. Higher power was called for, but the Auto Throttles did not respond. The Auto Throttles were turned off and the power was advanced to the forward stop on the right engine (Rolls Royce RB.211). The aircraft descended to FL 300 where the left and right throttles were matched up and both engine indications were similar. The flight diverted to Yellowknife, NT. The High Pressure Fuel Pump and Fuel Governor were replaced. All required tests and leak checks and Power Assurance Check were done and the aircraft was returned to service.
