Accident at 6 NM N of Pense, Saskatchewan

Summary

2003-07-03: UPDATE TSB reported that the Ayres S-2R Thrush Commander was manoeuvering during spray application activities 6 NM north of Pense, SK, when the aircraft struck a farm service electrical line. The line caught the tailwheel and pulled the aircraft down into a field, where it struck the ground hard, resulting in substantial damage to the landing gear, tail, and wing. The pilot sustained minor injuries. At the time of the wirestrike, the aircraft was flying west, and the setting sun obscured the pilot's view of the wire.
2003-06-30: While conducting spray operations the tail wheel of an Ayres S 2R caught a power line. The aircraft crashed in a field. The aircraft was substantially damaged. There were no injuries. TSB to update.
