Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC) (Conflict - potential, ATS operating irregularity)
2003-07-14: UPDATE ANS and Airspace reported that Nav Canada will convene an Operational Safety Investigation concerning this occurrence.
2003-06-27: The pilot of C-GTCG, a Cessna 172, was cleared to land on Runway 25 at Calgary with instructions to hold short of Runway 16. The pilot received and acknowledged the instruction. AAL 1792, an MD-80, was cleared for takeoff on Runway 16. The Tower Controller observed that the Cessna 172 was not going to be able to comply with the hold short instructions and instructed the pilot to expedite through the intersection. When the Cessna 172 was clear of the intersection, the MD-80 was approximatley 2,000 feet from intersection on its takeoff roll. TSB will be looking into this occurrence.
2003-07-03: UPDATE TSB reported that the Calgary Flight Training Centre Cessna 172, registration C-FTCG, was cleared to land on Runway 25 at Calgary Intl, with instructions to hold short of Runway 16. The instruction was acknowledged. An American Airlines MD-80, flight 1792, was cleared for takeoff on Runway 16. The Tower Controller observed the Cessna was not going to comply with the hold short instruction, and told the Cessna to expedite through the intersection. When the Cessna was clear of the intersection, there was approximately 2,000 feet of seperation from the MD-80 on its takeoff roll.
