Incident at HIGH LEVEL AB (CYOJ) (Overshoot/missed approach)
2003-06-23: CNS 615, a Metro III, was inbound to High Level and estimating at 0004Z. CRC 453, a Convair 340, was departing on fire suppression duty and at 0001Z the crew was given permission to taxi onto the runway for a one minute run-up. The aircraft took longer than anticipated for the run-up (the crew was aware of the landing aircraft and claimed they would be off in time) which forced the arriving aircraft to do a missed approach and circle around before it could land safely. CRC 453 was doing the run-up on the runway because there is no other place on the airport for an aircraft that size to conduct this safely.
