Incident at SASKATOON / JOHN G. DIEFENBAKER INTL SK (CYXE)

Summary

2003-06-23: An operating irregularity occurred when the pilot of FENX 4, a military CT-156 Harvard II, descended below his cleared and acknowledged altitude of 6,000 feet on the overhead approach procedure to Runway 15 at Saskatoon. The aircraft was observed descending to as low as 5,000 feet on radar and when questioned by the Controller, the pilot acknowledged the error and immediately climbed back to 6,000 feet. At the time, the Tower had just departed C-GHPP on Runway 09 with a SID that allowed a climb to 5,000 feet. The two aircraft did not lose separation.
